Dear parent/ guardian
Ref: Secondary two French/Sesotho/Chinese choices
The Machabeng College graduation requirements for IGCSE include the choice of Language of study through, Mandarin, French and Sesotho to study towards the IGCSE program. This gives them a four year period to learn the necessary skills for the given language in preparation for oral and/ written examinations. Once the choice has been made, the student may not change to another language until the completion of IGCSE. Parents are advised to discuss future aspirations and career directions with their children when making a language subject choice.
We strongly advice that, students who have not performed well in, English and French consider choosing Sesotho as an option. Please keep in mind that regional Universities prefer students who have done Mother tongue language.
The following is our criteria for selecting the subjects;
- For a student to choose Mandarin, a student must have symbol “B” or better in English.
- For a student to select French, a student must have a symbol “C” or better in French.
- For a student to choose Sesotho it should be a first language and they are taken even if they have a symbol which is lower than a “C” in Sesotho.
