Dear Machabeng Community;
RE: COVID 19 and July Office Hours
The staff wish everyone a healthy and safe winter break. We made it through a challenging learning experience with the term 3 online program, and we are planning ahead for a better blended learning experience come August.
Report Cards are available through the accounting office. The schedule below indicates the time and date for collection for the various year groups:
Tuesday 7th July 2020.
S1: 8.30 – 11.30 hours
S2: 11.30 – 13.30 hours
Wednesday 8th July 2020
S3: 8.30 – 11.30 hours
S4: 11.30 – 13.30 hours
Thursday 9th July 2020
DP1: 8.30 – 12.30hours
The Book Return Form, which should have already been done, is the key to receiving the yearly grading report. If the accountants have signed the book return, this means fees are paid and the account is current with the College.
The Senior Management Team and the Academic Coordinators are very busy redesigning the Online Teaching and Learning experience for our scholars. At this time, we are planning for both a regular opening to school and a return to Online Teaching and Learning. There are a growing number of COVID19 cases in Lesotho; the count is 91 for reported cases. Depending on the Lesotho Government plan, we will likely reopen as an online program for the first 3-5 weeks of the 2020-2021 school year until the COVID19 cases substantially diminish, and government permission is granted to a return to normalcy. Should the online home-based learning continue through the spring, we will establish a plan where students will come in small groups to meet with teachers on campus to better fortify the learning experience.
We are working to build a new infrastructure with the internet. We believe it is important for teachers to be on campus during the Blended Learning experience so they will be more accessible to our families. We expect the new system will be ready towards the end of August. Students who have struggled with Online Teaching and Learning will be guided and will have priority to be in the classes with teachers to be shown how to utilize Online forum. We will develop a rotation timetable for all grade levels to have face time as well; depending on the guidelines from the Lesotho Government.
If your scholar(s) have experienced issues connecting through Online Teaching and Learning, please contact the Guidance office. Our academic Coordinators will be ready to assist you and solve any problems your child may have had during Term 3 of 2019-2020 academic year.
The office is open Monday through Thursday during July 2020. We have downsized to a skeletal staff during our ongoing COVID19 social distancing. We are currently enrolling students for the 2020-2021 school year and looking forward to assisting you.
Yours in Education,
