Machabeng College COVID19 Observance Update
To the Machabeng Community;
How fortunate we are to be safe during such a turbulent time for the world. I hope you and your families are well and enjoying time together talking, reading, sneaking in a nap or two, and taking time to think about the future. During this unexpected life intermission, we are all taking note of our blessings especially regarding Lesotho being case free of COVID19. Through patience and restful actions, we will eventually see this interruption as a once in a lifetime historical moment where we had the opportunity to take a breath without rushing through to the next thing on our schedules.
As we come to the end of term break on April 21, 2020, the school will remain closed to regular classes until May 5. Term 3 will commence online again Wednesday, April 22, 2020, following the same schedule students would follow if they were here on campus. Online schooling will run from April 22-May 5, 2020. Unless the Government decides otherwise, we will return to campus and a regular schedule May 6, 2020.
The decision to continue with online schooling was made in light of the situation in South Africa. Daily, more cases are being reported and the numbers are rising much higher than expected. My thoughts are also focused on those cases that exist that are not being reported. As such, I want the Machabeng Community to continue to be safe and cautious moving forward.
Please keep in mind and be flexible should the Government make decisions that change my forecasted plans. Should COVID19 get any worse for SA or should it find its way to Lesotho, we will continue to take precautions as directed by the Lesotho Government and the Prime Minister.
Students are expected to keep up with classes and the work assigned. They are required to report online at scheduled times as they would be seated in a classroom under normal circumstances. Teachers and staff will continue to be flexible to meet the learning needs of our community. If you have any concerns about your child’s work, reporting, etc., contact the teacher directly through email.
We look forward to seeing you again on May 6, 2020 unless otherwise notified.
